Purpose

Athena GTX® fills the need for progress in the field of wireless medical monitoring in point of injury care. We believe that obtaining patient vital signs earlier on more patients leads to better outcomes.

We identified a problem: current wireless medical monitors were too expensive, bulky, heavy and inconvenient. The information these monitors provided was pertinent and necessary, but the units themselves were impacting transport and medical personnel at the point of injury. Most manufacturers were going the other way; more capability, more size, more weight and much more cost. Yet they still were not connected into the explosion of wireless technologies around the world. A change was necessary.

The challenge to design and prototype a smaller, faster, custom wireless vital signs monitor brought benefits to not only military medical personnel and their patients, but to the medical world and wireless medicine in general. Our vision was that we believed three primary things would drive the solutions: intuitive design, speed, and enabling technology. This vision, inside a dynamic young team, realized the potential and moved forward expeditiously. The results were impressive.

History

Our company was founded in 2002 upon a history and experience in designing and testing computerized pilot life support systems, many of them groundbreaking and still in use today. This has lead to the recruiting and formation of a small, highly talented team of engineers and support personnel who value and develop the latest technologies into wireless medical monitoring devices.

The world changed forever on 9/11/2001. We acknowledge the dangers we face. As the scene of the world began to change and new technologies in electronics and computers began to advance rapidly, a small group of engineers focused on the needs of first responders in this new world, with the notion that wireless medicine was the future. Their foresight, in our opinion, has proven true. Wireless medicine combines the speed and innovation of small portable smart devices, state of the art medical diagnostics and sensing, with intelligence of computation and connectivity. This enabled a new generation of solutions never before imaginable.

Athena GTX®'s combined level of experience exceeds 125 years and continues to grow and expand for the benefit of our customers. With an average employee age under that of almost every other high tech company, and a horizontal management team participating in design, development and now production, we have evolved into a very unique culture.

The company is a compilation of experience, youth, creativity, ability and success in a high-tech, fast-paced environment. Past and current research and development in biosensors, military life support, medical triage and medical state monitoring has developed into a diverse and capable team producing products to meet the rigorous demands of our customers.
